Spyridon (Spiro) Samonas holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems Management from the London School of Economics (LSE) with a dissertation entitled ‘Managing Computerized Bureaucracy: Opportunities and Hazards’. He had previously earned an MSc in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems (ADMIS) with Upper Merit from LSE, as well as a BSc in Economics with Distinction from the University of Piraeus, where he ranked first amongst more than 300 fellow students.
Spiro is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in Computer Information Systems at Louisiana Tech University. Prior to this appointment, he was Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Cyber-security at the Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness program in Virginia Commonwealth University. Previously, Spiro taught Business Information Technology and Services at Warwick Business School and Information Systems Management at LSE. He was also teaching faculty in LSE100. Besides a professional background in business analysis in the insurance and hospitality software industries, Spiro has acquired front-of-house management experience in the London hospitality industry.
His research focuses on information assurance, particularly in the areas of digital crime and digital fraud, the insider threat, managerial autonomy and information security compliance, and polymath education in information security management.
